1. 应届或已取得神经科学或相关学科(认知科学、心理学、医学、动物行为学、物理学、数学、电气或生物医学工程、计算机科学)的博士学位;
2. 应具备基于人类或动物的电生理、影像学及行为测定的研究经历,具有非人类灵长类动物相关工作经验者优先;
3. 具有编程(MATLAB、Python或R语言等)和神经或心理物理实验数据分析处理及数学建模经验者优先;
如需更多信息或有相关问题,请联系实验室管家李肖璇(xiaoxuan.li@icpbr.ac.cn)。
Postdoctoral Research Fellow Positions
Neurophysiological underpinnings of conscious visual perception
Laboratory of Neural Dynamics of Visual Perception and Cognition
International Center for Primate Brain Research (ICPBR), Shanghai, China
The ICPBR, co-directed by Prof. Mu-Ming Poo and Prof. Nikos K. Logothetis, affiliated with the Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology (CEBSIT, http://english.cebsit.cas.cn/), the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai is a newly established international research facility for conducting highest-level primate brain research.
Here, Dr. Vishal Kapoor leads the Laboratory of Neural Dynamics of Visual Perception and Cognition (http://english.cebsit.cas.cn/lab/VishalKapoor/research/). The lab, established in late 2021, aims to combine psychophysical paradigms and behavior with state-of-the-art electrophysiological and computational approaches to study the neural basis of conscious visual perception and disambiguate these neural processes from those underlying cognition.
Job description
The lab is looking for postdoctoral fellows for projects focusing on the neural circuits underlying conscious visual perception. These projects employ techniques, ranging from multi-regional, multi-electrode array recordings in awake (behaving and engaged in psychophysical paradigms) and anesthetized non-human primates to eye tracking, behavioral monitoring and EEG in humans, together with analytical approaches (inspired by machine learning and dynamical systems) for analyzing high-dimensional neural data and building computational models for investigating the neural algorithms underlying perceptual phenomena. The specific questions of interest can be designed in accordance with the experience and research interests of the selected candidate as long as they sufficiently fit within the focus of the lab.
General requirements
1. Candidates should be close to completing or hold a PhD in neuroscience or related disciplines (cognitive science, psychology, medicine, animal behavior, physics, mathematics, electrical or biomedical engineering, computer science).
2. Prior experience with electrophysiology or imaging or behavioral monitoring in animal models or human subjects. Experience of working with non-human primates is considered a plus.
3. Experience with programming (preferably with MATLAB or Python or R) and analysis of neural or psychophysical data is desirable. Experience with mathematical modeling is considered a plus.
4. Candidates should display a strong motivation and enthusiasm to conduct high-level neuroscience research in a multi-disciplinary, international and collaborative research environment.
We provide a highly interdisciplinary, international, inclusive, and supportive work environment for performing exciting cutting-edge research where qualified candidates will receive support from the institute and abundant opportunity for scientific exchange both domestically and internationally. The institute supports career and personal development of the candidates including opportunities related to talent programs available for outstanding postdoctoral fellows in the Chinese Academy of Science.
Application
To apply, please submit a CV, research statement (brief description of your past research, future career goals and how they relate to the lab) and contact information for 2-3 referees to the lab manager Li Xiaoxuan (xiaoxuan.li@icpbr.ac.cn) and hr@ion.ac.cn. For further information or questions, please contact the lab manager. Applications will be reviewed as they arrive until the positions are filled.
